We’re up to 40 out of 70 bands and this week explores the ins-and-outs of punk. From DIY ethos to self-aware political activism, pop-punk and shattering walls of sound, we’ll be encouraging you to pick up a guitar and do it yourself. Also 60% Australian!

Pent-up punk anthem ‘Say What You Mean’ from Cable Ties (Aus) is an insightful and culturally-charged call-to-arms. The track follows a tightly-coiled bassline before erupting in a pure annihilation of the 9-5. Their debut album is out today and they’ll be touring the country from June-July.

Familiar Melbourne incarnation Wet Lips (Aus) say no to bullshit through rousing tunes.

A cacophony of punk meets vulnerable yet razor-edged vocals in Philadelphia-based Mannequin Pussy’s new album.

Glossy pop-punk with girl-guy vocals from Manchester’s Luxury Death with their debut EP out now.

Londoners Primetime make aggressive and catchy lo-fi punk.

This track from LA noisemakers Cherry Glazerr is solidarity is a song.

Even more Melbourne magic with jaunty no-wave from Terrible Truths (Aus).

Angular and harmonious, Sachet (Aus) out of Sydney are one to watch.

Local favourite Angie (Aus) will be playing her wistful and affecting new material tonight at 107 Projects.

Melbourne ladies Lazertits (Aus) power-suit it up to bring you a fantastically ferocious 21st century anthem.
